About UYHRF

Defending the Human Rights of Young Ugandans Since 2020

UYHRF is an independent, nonpartisan, registered organisation working to advance the human rights of young people in Uganda, with a focus on marginalised youth and youth from key populations. We provide free legal aid, conduct research, lead strategic litigation, and build the capacity of young rights holders and the institutions that serve them. Our work is directed towards equality, nondiscrimination, and access to justice for those most often left behind.

To promote respect and protection of human rights for young people, especially marginalised youth and youth from key populations, through enhanced access to justice, advocacy and influencing, research, strategic litigation and knowledge development, and capacity enhancement.

A society where the human rights of all young people, including marginalised youth and youth from key populations, are valued and respected.

Transparency, integrity, and accountability.

A commitment to learning, reflection, and innovation.

Equality, justice, and nondiscrimination.

Teamwork, drive, and excellence in every part of our work.

We work through four programmes: Access to Justice, Research and Advocacy, Community Capacity Enhancement, and Institutional Development. Each programme reinforces the others, and together they let us defend young people's rights at the individual, community, and policy levels.
